The snapshot
Aruba sells certainty: trade-wind sunshine, English and Dutch, a compact island, and Palm and Eagle beaches that are easy to reach from the US. It is not lush. If you want rain forest and waterfalls, this is the wrong island. If you want to actually swim every day of a February week, it is a strong one.
South of the main hurricane belt. Short rain bursts happen, but week-long washouts are rare.
Pros

- A compact island with a real bus network and easy car rental
- Eagle and Palm Beach are swimmable, social, and simple
- Direct flights from many US cities; US-dollar friendly
Cons
- Arid landscape — cactus and wind, not jungle
- The high-rise strip can feel like a Florida annex
- Cruise and spring-break energy on peak weeks
- Trade winds are constant; hair and umbrellas will lose
Airports
Transit on the ground (and water)
Arubus
Public buses link Oranjestad, the high-rise hotels, and some beaches.
Buy a day or multi-day pass if you are skipping the car. Night frequency drops.
Rental car
Best for Arikok National Park, the California Lighthouse, and hidden coves.
Right-hand driving, good roads, and you need a park pass for Arikok. Book jeeps only if you actually want dirt roads.
Taxi and rideshare
Plentiful around hotels. Fares are posted more often than on many islands.
Fine for a beach-and-dinner stay. A car still wins for the national park.
